If we are fortunate in our lives we may meet and get to know individuals that are caretakers. They always provide friendly encouragement, a smile and care without asking for anything in return. Although our interactions are infrequent they are always welcome, a marking of time that most everything is alright and good. It's a bit of  "whew" and thank you wrapped in a warm sweater and the sweetness of laughter.  When this is threatened and your eyes express sympathy to the recent tetonic shifts of their foundation,  the response is unspoken and subtle.  Her strong gaze and calming grace informs,  "I am fine. Tell me about yours".  You believe her hope. You want to. Acts of goodness outlive us, these contributions to the world live forever in the story of our existence. It is not insignificant.
