Munras In Monterey

Last weekend while SF reverted back to its colder, grayer days we found sun in Monterey.  Certainly not expected but warmly welcomed, as well as a pool that was heated to 85 degrees.  Apparently this old city now has an Aquarium too but it was the otters swimming outside, freely in the bay that provided a cool breeze of enjoyment. Roll call with Kathy, Bob and Marley.

We stayed at Casa Munras which was the last diplomat from Spain's residence 1824?, a friendly comfortable place on a quiet block that leads into downtown.  I was happy to have a Peet's near - open until 10 on the weekends!  The Old Monterey Cafe was too crowded so we stumbled-or waddled upon the Mucky Duck just down the block.  Mucky is definitely meant for a night crowd but in the day, completely roomy with a back yard where the kids and I could roam in the sun. The Mucky Duck was great for a leisurely unhurried meal especially since it took awhile for the food to come out.  The meal was hearty, good and odd (see Dexter's Captain Crunch French Toast) and fulfilling.  When our friendly waiter took our order with one of his co-worker's children as his helper, we took this as a good sign.

Saturday night we locked into Tim Lincecum's no-hitter-Sweet as Captain Crunch French Toast!
