All Out Of Order, But Here Goes Anyway

It's been sometime. An active time. Slow to go here as there is concern to get the ducks in a nice sequence. I'm not going to worry about the sequence. Just go. So. Let's go.

Crazy times with our Presidential Election. On one side, the most liberal platform ever for the Democratic ticket (thanks in no small measure to Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren). The most qualified candidate (yes, with some baggage) for the office in Hillary Clinton (both domestic and foreign affairs, as Senator, First Lady and Secretary of State, for her years in policy more important in policy drafting to the President than Al Gore was, and years of public service.  The baggage relates to a time when she likely thought she was through with seeking office and allowed herself to take big checks to speak at corporate bank functions; not in itself criminal but in alliance with those with questionable intent.  On the Republican side, after years of promoting intolerance and nationalism is the product of this; the most conservative (although not at heart- more by self service as means to promote himself and his personal business) and to my mind hate filled (or if you don't agree, you should at least agree with the nationalist angle) conservative platform.  It's the KKK (note that support and way in to David Duke, former grand wizard of that group) but of the new millenium; all the thoughts and acts without the racist or sexist words (well, generally); it's just expressed differently.

Understood that people feel left out; they want to be heard. My experience is not to shut them out but to give them a voice to be heard, considered if not accepted.  It's been the ugliest campaign in my lifetime; unbelievable that Donald Trump can get the support he has had.  You'll remember but if somehow time softens this memory- do research Hillary Clinton vs. Donald Trump, 2016.  We are so flooded with him that I do not wish to add much more for now.  Here's Samantha Bee.

On a warmer note, we started going into the Bell Tower on Polk Street shortly after we met Emmylou Harris inside.  Dexter was about 5 years old, and very quickly became friends with Megan, who was waiting on tables, new to the bay area from Minnesota. Her relative Barb owns the Bell. Although we aren't able to frequent this favorite place often, we still on occasion get to visit Megan there. She now has two children of her own, and to this day says that Dexter has always been her very favorite customer. Over the years, Megan has bought all of us dinner several times, played with Dexter and Oliver in the big purple chair that sits in the Bell, and has always always warmly received all of us.

On a sweeter note, here's the donut lady at Bob's who I've known for 40+years and in recent times has always been fond of us especially the boys. Oliver might be her favorite Chew. It's always funny (and slightly uncomfortable) when she will hold up a long line to make small talk, and share her feelings about the current state of the Giants.  We miss seeing her but stop in when we can.  Funny thing, we've never known each other names.
